Syncline Subduction Red, 2006, $18
James and Poppie Mantone have forged their winery and vineyards on the steep cliffs of the Columbia River. For this blend, they sourced Syrah from their own fields and other prime vineyards throughout the Columbia Valley, including small percentages of Grenache from Wahluke Slope, and Mourvedre from Horse Heaven Hills and others. The result is a big, juicy wine with great acid and tannic backbone, and big flavors of cherry and spice for an excellent everyday red.
