Influenced by history, inspired by modern tastes, bridal fashion in 1999 is as versatile as it's ever been. Many gowns are featuring empire waists and vintage-y details like hand beading; for spring and summer, sleeveless dresses rule the day. Yet one area of the wedding gown is receiving special attention: the bodice. Corset styling, shirred fabric, boning and structural details are replacing the looser slip dresses of seasons past.

While the sheath-style wedding dress is still very popular, layered skirts in tulle or chiffon are coming on strong this season. Perhaps that's because many designers have reconnected with the subtle femininity that seems to be an intrinsic part of the bridal experience. Topping off contemporary classics that boast hints of color and luxe fabrics are irresistible bridal adornments.

For lots of women, the icing on the cake is not a breathtaking gown (although thats pretty vital) but rather the gown's accouterments. Gloves, sparkly barrettes, a perfect little handbagaccessories like these add dash and personality to even the most traditional dress.
