Me again. Also, if you want to sell your gown hassle-free, or buy one, check out the Bridal Emporium on N Snelling ave in St Paul. They're in the phone book. They have a decent selection and I wish i knew of them before I got married!
: I just got married, and i have some recommdations and words of wisdom....
: 1. Find a church that is air-conditioned or be prepared to suffer the consequences--at least
: plan for a "shorter" version of the wedding.
: 2. If you like Irish music, hire the group DunQuin (a trio, they were great!)--you can get their number at "Irish on Grand."
: We also hired a dancing instructor to teach people at the wedding and it was great. It was an afternoon reception and people
: really danced--kids to teens to our friends to all the older folks too!
: 3. After having an unpleasant experience with a certain unnamed bridal shop (alterations looked bad once they were done), I bought a dress and
: had it altered last minute (2 weeks before!). It turned out great. I bought the 2 weeks to go dress at David's Bridal on Lyndale and 494 in Bloomington. They were wonderfully understanding.
: Then I had it altered at Highland Tailors in St Paul (Cleveland Ave.). They were great as well.
: 4. Rehearsal dinner was very pleasant at the Lexington in St Paul. A very classy, the parents loved it kind of place. Good food!
: The reception was at The Garden Room in Eden Prairie--a bit of a hike from St Paul, but the space is really nice and the prices more reasonable than
: so many other places around here. A really good dance floor and space to roam outside,a little pond nearby. The food was OK--we got two entrees and One was apparently great, the other
: (the one I ate) OK. Serving liquor there is expensive though, we just skipped it.
: Hope this info helps!
