Job Description
Tiger Oak Media’s Meetings + Events group seeks a full-time, creative, detail-oriented assistant editor to join the team of these targeted niche publications. The assistant editor will contribute in writing, editing and planning for eight quarterly (and one twice-annual) print magazines, as well as assisting with various digital responsibilities. Position Responsibilities
+ Assist managing editor with Minnesota Meetings + Events magazine (help with quarterly lineups, assign Meeting Note stories, strategize content for future issues)
+ Write M+E magazines (ranging from Meeting Notes to departments)
+ Write the Meeting Note Opener and Infograph print sections quarterly
+ Maintain a digital archive of M+E magazines
+ Record comp copy lists for all M+E publications
+ Assist with proofing process of all M+E publications
+ Assist digital content editor with managing the intern program
+ Assist digital content editor with web coverage
+ Help with special projects as needed
Necessary Skills
+ One to two years editorial experience at an established publication (could be a college publication or internship)
+ Bachelors degree in mass communications, journalism or English
+ Outstanding verbal and written communications skills including the aptitude for reporting, writing, editing and proofreading
+ Ability to think strategically and take initiative
+ Comfort and familiarity with digital tools like Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
+ Ability to work as part of a small team and juggle multiple projects at once
+ Superior organizational skills
+ A love (and knack) for sourcing interesting and ahead-of-the-curve information
+ Firm grasp on Associated Press style
