Tiger Oak Media partners with Go Buy Local

Tiger Oak Media partners with Go Buy Local a Minnesota company dedicated to supporting local businesses while encouraging philanthropy.

MINNEAPOLIS, July 26, 2015—Tiger Oak Media has partnered with Go Buy Local, a Minnesota company that supports local businesses, schools and causes by engaging customers to shop locally by donating to the nonprofit of each customer’s choosing.

In June of 2015, Go Buy Local [GBL] launched a free mobile app, providing a simple way for individuals to give back without any additional cost to them. By partnering with local businesses, the app enables customers to select from over 1,000 local businesses in 25 communities who will donate to the nonprofit of their customer’s choice. Just sign up and designate the school or cause you would like to receive the donation. Once you are signed up, you can track the donations you earned, as well as the total donations your selected nonprofit has earned – right to the minute. And GBL makes sure 100% of the donations get there!

At the point of sale, customers shopping with the app present their mobile device to the cashier who approves the donation. If the customer prefers to print out the offers, the business will match them up on the GBL system to verify the donation was earned.

Local businesses work with us to create an offer and determine the amount they will donate when the offer is used which we enter into the GBL system. GBL enables businesses to support every school and cause in their community in a fair and meaningful way. And their donations are sustainable, because every donation is tied to a sale which helps them stay in business. GBL handles all the tracking and reporting to keep it simple for the business. In fact, GBL even sends the customer a thank you on behalf of the business every time they earn a donation.

Nonprofits can track the progress and they will receive 100% of the funds earned. GBL collects the donations from all of the businesses and sends a single, combined check to the nonprofit acknowledging the businesses who have donated, saving the nonprofit both time and effort.

“Our vision is to strengthen local business and enhance social welfare with a ‘green’ approach to consumption of locally grown, made, and sold items, to help communities thrive.” says William Veeneman, President and CEO of Go Buy Local.
